The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global standard promoting the open and accountable management and governance of oil, gas and mineral resources. To address the key governance issues in the extractive sectors, the EITI has developed this standard. Although the primary users of the EITI Standards are governments, it is, directly and indirectly, relevant to companies as well to ensure the transparency and accountability of revenues. The Standard is composed of two parts. Part I deals with the implementation of the Standard and part II deals with the governance and management of the international EITI.
The fourth edition was introduced in 2023. The EITI has prepared a summary-of-changes note here.
